World Bridge Tourism is a 12- month programme of activities in 2017 to be carried out by ETOA and ETC. The general objective of the World Bridge Tourism Project is to increase the flow of Chinese visitors to the European Union. World Bridge Tourism will be the curtain raiser for a major initiative that will take place the following year: the 2018 EU–China Tourism Year.
The World Bridge Tourism project will involve hosting 100 European tourism suppliers in May of 2017, who will meet with a similar number of Chinese outbound operators. This networking workshop will take place alongside ITB China in Shanghai. This will be followed by a similar event at the ETOA Global European Marketplace in November 2017, where 100 Chinese Outbound Operators will be gathered to talk to a nominated group of European suppliers.
These B2B events will be supported by an extensive programme of research and webinars aimed at increasing the understanding of the needs of Chinese visitors within the European Tourism Community. Each of these events shall last between 1 to 1.5 days including 1-day Political Conference and half day of B2B matchmaking. The Political Conference will be focusing on the presentation by EU representatives of what the EU is doing to welcome tourists and to attract investment in its tourism sector as well as technical presentations from private and public experts. Those presentations will be focused on the EU-China tourism potential and the opportunities of the EU tourism market.
